This first module offers a brief overview of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). We unpack the definition to learn more about different types of AAC tools and systems that range from lite-tech to mid-tech and high-tech tools. Time is spent discussing the specific elements that ensure communicative competence, including operational, linguistic, social and strategic competence.
